Medical Definition of ARTICULAR PROCESS

:  either of two processes on each side of a vertebra that articulate with adjoining vertebrae: a :  one on each side of the neural arch that projects upward and articulates with an inferior articular process of the next more cranial vertebra—called also superior articular process b :  one on each side of the neural arch that projects downward and articulates with a superior articular process of the next more caudal vertebra—called also inferior articular process
